Green Smoothie for Healthy Hair

Green smoothies have been an integral part of my hair care (and skin care) since I went natural over three years ago. They are easy, tasty and  above all else, excellent for overall health. The following is a great smoothie recipe – excellent for your breakfast on-the-go – that will leave you energised, inspired and regular (healthy poop, healthy you!). Again, like any recipe, please feel free to modify for your taste and sensitivities.

  • Source of: complex carbohydrates, omega fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, folate, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, manganese, magnesium, calcium, iron, dietary fibre, protein
  • Calories per serving: 396
  • Servings: 2


  • 4 cups of spinach – preferably organic
  • 1 cup of coriander (or parsley to substitute)
  • 1 banana (medium)
  • 2 apples (medium) – preferably organic
  • 1/4 lemon (medium)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 TBSP ginger grated (similar to size of adult thumb)
  • 1 orange (medium, freshly squeezed)
  • 1 TBSP honey (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raw almonds
  • water (add sparingly, just enough to ensure blending)

You will also need:

  • blender
  • 2 glasses (serving containers)
  • bowl
  • cutting board
  • knife


  1. Wash the skins of fruit and vegetables as needed (i.e. spinach, apple, etc.)
  2. Chop up ingredients, placing the banana at the bottom of the blender and all other ingredients on top. (With banana on bottom, ingredients blend thoroughly – creating a smooth consistency)
  3. Continue to blend until smooth. (You may have to stop and stir contents periodically to ensure proper blending)

  1. I have to say that this article is terrific. There is nothing more valuable than good info today, after all we do live in the information age. Thank you for the info, it is really useful. There’s nothing else to add, baby carriers can give you peace and quiet.
